Amazon recently announced a policy

Amazon recently announced a policy that would impose a 5% fuel inflation surcharge on top of existing fees for third-party sellers in the U.S. using Fulfillment by Amazon.

The new fee policy will go into effect in about 2 weeks, but may change. The new policy applies to all product categories, with a surcharge for all products shipped from fulfillment centers starting April 28.

Because of inflation and rising oil prices, Amazon’s operating costs have risen, and it has passed on some of the costs to sellers. For those sellers using Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA), Amazon raised fees last November. These merchants will store inventory products in Amazon warehouses and use Amazon supply chains and shipping centers to send products. Amazon will have approximately 2 million sellers in 2021, 89% of which use FBA.

“In 2022, we had expected operations to return to normal after the easing of global COVID-19 restrictions, but fuel and inflation have created further challenges,” an Amazon spokesperson said in an email. “It’s unclear whether inflation will rise or fall, and it’s not clear.” How long will it last, so we adjust the policy. We do not have a permanent fee adjustment policy, but for the first time, the fuel inflation surcharge will be introduced. This is the first time that such a policy has been introduced.
